Namaskara Nanna priya ITK Sahodare mathe Sahodiare,
This is my first blog on ITK.
This is a Level 400 Article.
Level 400: You are an advanced Technologist and know what you are doing.
To start things off, I thought let me start an Article Series of how does one get started in Virtualization Technologies.
There are a host of resources and documentation, that explains what virtualization is in theory. I am going to spare you all the pain and help you learn the practical way.
Today remember, theory is only part of the learning process, the majority of time, we spend today are on practicals.
Hardware and Software
Hardware
1) You will need to have a 64bit capabable processor, Intel EMT64 / AMD 64.
To identify whether your system supports Virtualization or not, download this tool and run it
http://www.grc.com/files/securable.exe
or the Intel Processor Utility
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/7838/eng/pidenu24.msi&agr=N&ProductID=1881&DwnldId=7838&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All Operating Systems〈=eng
2) You will need to enable Hardware Virtualization in your BIOS
3) 2-4 GB of RAM ( as you will need to allocate some from your RAM to the Virtual OS)
4) A good network
Software
1) VirtualBox from Oracle, A free Virtualization Solution
http://www.virtualbox.org
This completes our setup.
In the next section of this Article, I will show you how to install Linux using this.
Stay Tuned.
