Mid-life crisis affects IT pros most!(TOI)

Posted by: mahesh.walasang

Tagged in: Untagged

According to experts, men in their 30s from the IT industry are worst hit by the mid-life crisis as compared to the professionals from other fields with poor EQ (emotion quotient). They have difficulty keeping pace with technology in their professions. Analyses by a psychiatrist  “In trying to keep up with youngsters in their career, professional in their 30’s start feeling obsolete. The crisis also strikes the most who are successful academically and in their careers, but have a poor EQ level.”
These are Type A personalities, who are also more prone to heart problems. They are smart, intelligent, achieve too early, too soon. They work hard, rise fast, but lack the skills to handle a personal crisis or manage people. They also lack introspection skills.
Traditionally believed to strike in the 40s now mid-life crisis hits both men and women in the mid-30s. With many careers on a fast track, individuals tend to “burn out” earlier these days and are suddenly faced with crises earlier in life. It begins with individuals questioning their objectives in life and realizing that they have been chasing the wrong goals which has been causing more stress than a sense of well-being and happiness.
Sometimes this is compounded by a diminished sex drive as well as a sense of physical and psychological aging. According to a psychiatrist, “Life is a constant transition and stresses have gone up, but coping mechanisms have not. Competition, high pressure jobs, high financial investments, a nuclear family make for difficult transitions in the 30s.”

Think about it ...!!!!

Some times back I got an e-mail the summary of the e-mail is as follows-

A disciple of budha approached him and said humbly “ master you are so much concerned about the world and others, why don’t you look into the welfare and needs of your disciples also?”

Budha : Asked him, tel me what you want?

Disciple: my attire has worn out and its beyond the decency to wear the same. Can I get the new one?

Budha: Asked the store keeper to give a new attire for his disciple.

Disciple was very happy and went to his room with new attire…

After some time budha went to disciples place and asked him , “are you comfortable with new attire? Do you want something?

Disciple thanked him and said he is comfortable with new clothes and need nothing more….

Then Budha asked him-

Budha: having the new attire, what you did with the old one ?

Disciple: “ I am using it as a bed spread”

Budha: “Then I think you have disposed your old old bedspread"

Disciple: “ No master I am using it as my window curtain”

Budha: “ What about old curtain”

Disciple: “ It is being used to handle hot utensiles in kitchen”

Budha: “ what about old cloths which were being used in kitchen?”

Disciple: “ now I am using those clothes to wash the floor”

Budha: “then what about old clothes being used to wash the floor….?”

Disciple: “ those clothes were in such a condition that I did not find any ways to use those… but using as twig in the oil lamp, which is currently lit in your study room …”

Budha smiled and left the room …..

If not to this degree of utilization , we can find many ways to use the old things . But many of us does not seems to bother about the old things once we get new ones. Thinking on this matter can help us to save things for our future

My First Pen...

JASBAAT-10

Tagged in: Untagged

We CSE 6th sem students of SKSVMACET has done it again by organizing the wonderful function “JASBAAT-10” the farewell for our beloved seniors on 14th May 2010. It was the best farewell we have ever seen in SKSVMACET.

Before starting the preparation for JASBAAT-10 in our class we had a lot of misunderstandings between us, but don’t know how everyone worked together without showing their anger and made it successful. Really we have to say thanks for those people.

The previous day of the function the games specially conducted for seniors were very interesting and new ones, specially  that  paper dance. Everyone enjoyed there. On that night we people worked upto 3.30 at midnight for decorating the function hall  having lot of tension in mind. But we enjoyed those moments. The unforgettable moment was while having the black tea at 3.30AM. We had lott of fun at that moment.

The next day was the one which we were waiting for. That’s a farewell day. Our chief guest was Dr. Shivaraj Desai a retired scientist of NAL Bangalore. That was a formal function. They gave a good speech and we also had the transformation of FORTUNE family’s posts to 6th sem students.

At 6PM in the evening we started the cultural function. Taj and Shailesh’s anchoring was superb and the “FORTUNE MISS U ALL” dance was fantastic. We really enjoyed the function. Our aim behind the cultural events was to entertain our seniors as much as possible. And we succeded also in that. After the end of the function we had arrange the dinner, at that time we were started to feeling that we are going to miss our friendly seniors who have given the support  for everything to us and guided us. Finally we finished JASBAAT-10 successfully. This success should be belongs to all 6th sem CSE students and we have to say thanks to our lectures and HOD sir who didn’t restrict us anywhere.

Now the time of exams.  We have to concentrate on studies. All the best to all my friends.

Why Cricket??

Hi friends,

This is my first blog. Actually I don’t know how to write but decided to try. If any grammatical mistake is there plz excuse because I am not good in English.

Here I want to share my feelings about cricket the sports which is killing the future of other sports in India. In India cricket has become a religion, no one care about other games like chess where Indian is the champion . Dhoni has became the inspired person than Leander Paes , Strange but true. Whenever our beloved men in blue (Indian cricket team) boys go to the big matches we always believe that this time they surely win the cup. But what they will do? The answer is known to everyone but still we love those peoples. They concentrate on the advertisement more than on game. That people  knows that when they playing the one billion peoples have hope on them, but they  just ignores that and  always play for money.

In this moment we should remember the great sports persons who always played for country never cared about money like Dhanaraj Pilley, Vishwanathan  Anand, P.T.Usha and many more persons…When Indian cricket team won T-20 world cup they got lot of money from BCCI, Indian Government and their respective state governments, but V.Anand has won the world cup in Chess consecutively 3 times, what the government did for him? When Saina Nehwal became the first Indian to won the Indonesian super series what her state government gave to her? I feel very bad to remind that our national game i.e hockey players did the strike for their payment. This shows how our government shows disinterest in other sports.

Why we people always give more preference to cricket only? Is there any lack of talents in other sports in   our country? Or   are they not performing better than cricket players? The nations like U.S.A , Japan, China they never gave the preference to cricket because they know that cricket is a foolish game. Just think about their growth in other sports, how they coach their players, how much money they put on their players. We should follow their methods in training the sports persons (Not cricket players). Now football world cup starting, I am feeling very bad & thinking that when our team will participate in such type of events.

Atleast from now onwards we people and our government should give support to other sports. I am not telling that we should neglect the cricket or ban that game, I am just telling that give a same preference to other games also as much u give to cricket, so that our proud persons like Saina, Vijayendar,Kkaran Chandok will shine our country name in the world.

Top 10 online distractions (TOI)

People who spend most of their time online often get distracted by the huge range of online activities and applications vying to attract attention.
Now, RescueTime, a company that creates time management and productivity software, has come up with a list of such online distractions.
When Google posted the classic game Pac-Man on its home page, it guzzled about 4.8 million hours of work time and $120 million in lost productivity, as calculated by RescueTime, reports ABCNews.com
Montana Low, RescueTime senior software developer, said that the calculations give a view into how people spend time online.
Looking at his company's data, he was able to determine the websites people tend to spend the most time on as well as the ones RescueTime software users said were the most distracting.
The list of the top 10 online distractions include:
1. Facebook 2. YouTube 3. Facebook Applications 4. Twitter 5. Amazon 6. Hulu 7. Netflix 8. Flickr 9. Blogger 10. Reddit

Facebook rolls out new privacy controls (TOI)

Posted by: mahesh.walasang

Tagged in: Untagged

BOSTON: Facebook is beefing up privacy protections on the world's most popular online social network, addressing mounting pressure to better secure personal data exchanged among its nearly 500 million members.
The issue has come to a head in recent months amid concern that Facebook makes it possible for Internet stalkers, cyber criminals and even nosy neighbors to gain a wealth of information about its users without their knowledge thanks to a confusing system for setting privacy safeguards.
Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said that his company would roll out changes over the coming weeks that would give users more powerful tools to prevent personal information from being accessed by others.
For instance, Facebook will allow users to block all third parties from accessing their information without their explicit permission. It will also make less information available in its user directory and reduce the number of settings required to make all information private from nearly 50 to less than 15.
Still, Zuckerberg said Facebook's default settings will continue to make it relatively easy for users to obtain information about each other as the company walks a delicate line between protecting privacy rights and promoting social networking.
"Users use the service because they love sharing information," Zuckerberg said on a webcast presentation. Facebook is increasingly challenging more established Internet players like Yahoo Inc and Google Inc for consumers' online time and for ad dollars.
While Facebook will make it simpler for users to boost their privacy safeguards, they will have to opt out of default policies by which much of their data is publicly available.
Gartner analyst Ray Valdes said he believed these steps should allay the concerns of Facebook users who were protesting its current privacy policies. He estimated they accounted for less than 1 per cent of the site's user base.
"But there are other voices that will continue -- governments, public sector and privacy advocates," Valdes said. "The fundamental issues won't go away. They will reappear over time. Again and again."
Valdes said that privacy concerns will continue to crop up with Facebook and other social networks because such sites need to balance the right of users to interact safely over the Internet with the need to generate profits by sharing information with advertisers and other business partners.
